1.5 years ago I published the original ‘Top 10 weirdest USB drives‘. Over 500 000 people have visited the original page, and it included all of the sushi drives, the thumb drive and the now classical barbi drive. I’ve received quite many comments and emails about the list, and I know that some of you guys wants an updated list. So here it is – Top 10 weirdest USB drives, Part II’. All new drives!

Capture HDTV using your firewire-equipped cable box
25 01 2007According to FCC regulations, all DVRs that cable companys rent must have an active firewire port. While unfortunately you likely won’t be able to record premium channels such as HBO, INHD, DiscoveryHD. All broadcast channels must be open. If any broadcast channels are encrypted a quick call to your cable company will fix this. This is a dream come true for all you TV archivers.
While I use this method primarily for recording 720p, and 1080i HDTV sources, this will work for standard definition digital channels as well.
